Koch Chemie LeatherTexClean: The Leather Cleaner That Respects The Material

Koch Chemie LeatherTexClean is the pH-balanced leather and textile cleaner from the Koch Chemie The Finisher line, engineered to lift body oils, dye transfer, sweat residue and ground-in dirt from car leather without drying the material or breaking down the protective coating. Developed in the Koch Chemie laboratories in Unna, Germany, LeatherTexClean uses a mild surfactant blend that respects the natural fat layer leather depends on for flexibility and longevity.

Where aggressive cleaners strip the natural oils and leave leather dry and brittle, LeatherTexClean cleans deep while preserving the material. The German formulation works equally on smooth leather, perforated leather, fabric upholstery and Alcantara. Pair with LeatherLock for a complete leather care system: clean first with LeatherTexClean, protect after with LeatherLock.

Why Detailers Trust LeatherTexClean

  • pH-balanced chemistry: formulated to match the natural pH of leather, preventing dryness and damage.
  • Multi-material safe: works on smooth leather, perforated leather, fabric upholstery, Alcantara and microsuede.
  • Lifts deep contamination: dissolves body oils, dye transfer from jeans, sweat residue and ground-in dirt without abrasion.
  • Mild but effective: safe for repeated use without the cumulative drying that aggressive cleaners cause.
  • Light foam profile: creates enough lather to lift dirt without saturating the material.
  • Made in Germany: formulated and bottled in Koch Chemie's own laboratories in Unna.

How to Use Koch Chemie LeatherTexClean

  1. Vacuum the interior thoroughly to remove loose dust and debris.
  2. Spray LeatherTexClean onto a soft leather brush or onto the leather surface directly, 2 to 3 sprays per section.
  3. Work the product into the leather with gentle circular motions using the brush. Pay attention to seams, stitching and perforations where dirt collects.
  4. Let the product dwell for 1 to 2 minutes. The lifted contamination will become visible as the product changes colour.
  5. Wipe the area with a clean microfiber towel using straight passes. Flip the towel to a clean side as it loads with contamination.
  6. For heavily contaminated areas, repeat the cycle. For maintenance cleaning, a single pass is usually sufficient.
  7. Allow the leather to air-dry completely before applying LeatherLock or any protective product.

Pro tip: always test on a hidden area first when treating older leather, vintage interiors or aniline leather. Some leather types may show colour change or texture difference after cleaning. Modern factory leather almost always responds well to LeatherTexClean.

Important: never soak leather with cleaner. Apply enough product to clean, not so much that it saturates the material. Excessive moisture can affect the foam padding underneath the leather surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use LeatherTexClean on perforated leather?
Yes. The light-foam profile is designed to clean the leather surface without soaking through the perforations. Work the product with a soft brush rather than aggressive scrubbing to avoid forcing cleaner into the perforation holes.

Will LeatherTexClean dry out my leather?
No, when used as directed. The pH-balanced formula respects the natural fat layer leather depends on for flexibility. To maintain leather over time, follow LeatherTexClean with LeatherLock to add a protective layer that retains moisture and shields against new contamination.

What is the difference between LeatherTexClean and a household leather cleaner?
Household leather cleaners are often designed for furniture leather, which differs from automotive leather in coating, finish and exposure to UV. LeatherTexClean is formulated specifically for car leather, which sees direct sunlight, temperature variation and constant body oil contact that household products are not designed to handle.

Can I use LeatherTexClean on Alcantara?
Yes. Spray onto a soft brush rather than directly on the material. Work gently in straight passes, then wipe with a clean microfiber towel. After drying, brush the Alcantara nap with a soft brush to restore the texture.

Should I use LeatherTexClean before applying LeatherLock?
Yes. Clean first with LeatherTexClean to remove existing contamination, then apply LeatherLock to the clean surface for maximum bonding and durability. Applying LeatherLock over dirty leather traps contamination and reduces the protective effect.

Where is LeatherTexClean made?
Koch Chemie LeatherTexClean is formulated and bottled in Germany by Koch Chemie GmbH at their headquarters in Unna. The Rag Company Europe is an authorised dealer of the Koch Chemie The Finisher line for Europe.
